Oregano is a field grass of the mint family, which got its name for its extraordinary spicy aroma. It grows mainly on the warm coast of the Mediterranean, Adriatic and Ionian seas.
Oregano is a strong purifier, so its strength must be commensurate and properly directed. This force is formed by carvacrol (the strongest antibacterial agent), the concentration of which should be more than 70%.
Oregano is full of useful components:
Phenols – thymol and carvacrol.
Essential oil of oregano contains the above substances in maximum concentration, so it is best to use it for medicinal purposes. The acids have a pronounced antioxidant effect, and phenols directly fight yeast-like fungi of the genus Candida.
Oregano has chemicals that can dehydrate all types of fungi, as well as keep good bacteria in our body. The active ingredient in oregano oil called Carvacrol is effective in the treatment of various infections.
Oregano oil is especially useful for treating thrush. One of the advantages of oregano oil is that Candida fungi do not develop resistance to a natural remedy, while some other antifungal drugs may lose their effectiveness over time, as Candida adapts to them.
Carvacrol is a powerful antimicrobial and antifungal agent.
Thymol also copes with bacteria and yeast; it is used even as an antihelminthic. Regular use of small doses of thymol protects the body from the recurrence of any infections, including thrush. This natural phenol can be called a universal helper for our immunity, and it works best in tandem with carvacrol since these substances are isomeric.
How to apply oregano oil to treat thrush?
There are two possible ways to use oregano essential oil for curing thrush. You can apply the oil externally to the affected skin or take the oil inside. Both methods allow you to permanently get rid of thrush.
The powerful active ingredients of oregano oil can irritate the skin, so do not apply this oil straight to the skin, especially in sensitive areas such as the genitals. This may cause irritation or even burn the affected skin. For external use, the oil should be dissolved with olive oil to help soften the skin by mixing 3 drops of oregano oil with 1 tbsp. of olive oil. If you find that your skin still reacts with irritation to the mixture, add some more olive oil. The course is a few days.
Dissolve 4 drops of oregano oil in a tablespoon of olive oil. You should not take more than 4 drops of oregano oil per day.
What to look for when buying oregano oil?
It is recommended to buy oregano oil, which is pure, additives-free but contains more 70% of carvacrol, the active substance that provides powerful antifungal properties of oregano.
While there are many varieties of oregano, Greek oregano is considered the “true oregano” containing 86-90% of carvacrol.
